Convergent evolution. NB

I was interested – and in a strange way, reassured – to learn more about the work of Santa Fé-based  Matthew Chase-Daniel. Reassured because here is someone who is thinking the same way as I am about multiple image works – and receiving “art world” recognition for it. Though there are many parallels, we differ fundamentally in how we assemble the final work. To my way of thinking, elements without a border separating them are, in most cases, too bewildering to look at. Our perception is of separate elements that combine to produce the experience of a place and I like to maintain that distinctiveness with a border. Chase-Daniels prefers to butt every up close – and sometimes it works. This interpretation of a cloudscape in Estonia follows his style.

  3. Just one turn to the left, more pleasing on the eye as the clouds look more natural on the horizontal.

That’s really restful to look at. There’s something about it that I can’t just put my finger on – but I like it all the same. Something to hang on the wall and ponder…. hmm yes !
