One of the big challenges of 2020VISION is to take complicated ideas and make them universally understandable. That may lead at times to over-simplification, but when it comes down to it, things are often a lot simpler than they at first appear (although perhaps this belief is a consequence of senescence…).
“Ecosystems”. Horrible word. A turn off. What can we use instead? Well, probably “home” isn’t so far off the mark. And while you can live alone in an unfurnished house with a broken roof, rotting floor boards and chronic rising damp, the experience is a bit less enjoyable than in a well maintained one with other folks round about you. That’s my kind of ecosystem.
Niall,
Maybe ‘home’ is too localized in its connotations: an ecosystem is more a diverse collection of homes with ‘interactions’ and inhabitants
Perhaps ‘community’ gets closer…but is that a bit anthropocentric, too ?

Hello Paul
Thanks for the input! The simplification of complex ideas is fraught, of course. The difficulty is in illustrating the better concept of “community” and, for some, its (inexplicably) negative connotations when compared with “home”.
On to the next bright idea!
My best
Niall
